Everything that was done with the community topic in class has definitely helped me see the significance when i am writing my paper. The communities of people and individuals that are affected by issues reflect the importance of those communities. without communities there would be no progress in this world and that is one of the very cool things that this world offers.
The environment is something that obviously everyone has to live in. The way that humans live today is not something that i am against because i can do little about it. i am a realist and i realize that some things are beyond control and out of the question. but sustainability is something that can be done. that is why i have chosen that pathway minor in order to make a difference when i get out of college. breaking even on environmental pollution is better than being in the negative.
One thing that i think that i need to work on in my paper are my transitions. Making my paper flow and have it be coherent with unity. I think that when i have my consultation i will have pointers on this subject. simply reading it myself i can see mistakes, but it would be better if someone could point them out to me, it would mean a great deal more.
As i have been writing my paper on water pollution in California, i have found many different kinds of information. the thing that i wish to find are more local sources of information. like pollution in Chico. It is difficult to find information that does not focus on major cities and sites of pollution that affect many people.
The annotations that we did in class were helpful, but i feel like that there is not enough information from them to write my entire paper. I have found numerous sources other than the annotations. i think that it did help me in the research aspect. finding other articles was easy. Learning how to look through and scan important information within the article was an excellent thing to learn as well.
As i form my body paragraphs, i try to do the things i was taught in high school to an extent. the topic sentence, concrete details and commentary with a conclusion. Although this is a good model, going off in my own style is efficient as well. I use the order, but i also have sentences in between which i dont know how to classify.
So far my paper is going well. The hardest part was starting it. After i got my introduction done i was able to get a lot of my body paragraphs done. I think that another difficult part of writing this essay is where to put information for it to be effective and logical. For example, putting the history of your topic at the end would not be as effective as putting it at the beggining of the essay.
